Activity Reflections -
Online Self-Paced Turtorial assitance - The district has purchased license to Atomic Learning - self paced online tutorials. I was able to go over with a teacher how to access these and the possibilities they hold for her Professional Development. She was very excited and asked a lot of questions to make sure she knew how to access them at home.

PK teacher, song and copy write - I worked with a PK teacher who wanted to provide a counting song to her students so they could practice their counting at home with their parents. She wanted to burn the song to a CD for all of them at first or wanted to post it to her website for them to listen to - for both of these solutions we discussed the copy write infringement. The solution I posed was to have her and her class sing the song while we recorded it in Garage Band. This worked well, the kids had a blast they were very cute. She then burned that song onto a CD for them to take home.

Tested new web-based video conferencing system that the district is looking at purchasing. I worked closely with out District media specialist and campus support specialists while we set it up, tested it and then had a polycom as a back up on the day of the conference. I am glad we put the system to a real test while we were looking at it. It has some nice features but also had several limitations.

Machinima Project - Worked with a group of 5th grade students to create an electronic Machinima product for their school business fair. There were a lot of complications, their ideas were lofty and the project did not come together as well as they would have liked. We were pressed for time as well. I was impressed with their creativity and they were very motivated for it to be successful.
